Overview
Abide & Bloom is a women’s Bible study ministry that meets weekly through Sunday School leadership. The group needed a way to stay connected with class members between in-person gatherings — a home base where women could revisit the week’s scripture, listen to related teaching, worship along with a curated playlist, and stay looped in on upcoming events, without leadership having to chase everyone down through email chains and printed handouts.
The Challenge
Sunday School leadership had the content — weekly themes, scripture references, worship songs, and podcast recommendations — but no easy way to put it in front of their class outside the hour they spent together each week. Attendance is fluid, life gets busy, and women who miss a session or want to go deeper on their own had nowhere to turn. Leadership also needed to be able to update the site themselves each week without relying on a developer for every change.
The Solution
We built Abide & Bloom as a warm, easy-to-navigate WordPress site designed around one goal: extend the weekly class into something women could return to any day of the week. The build centers on a few key experiences:
Study Calendar, powered by LearnPress A full year of weekly studies — organized by month, week, theme, and scripture reference — is structured using the LearnPress plugin, giving leadership a familiar course-style framework for organizing curriculum. Each week stands on its own so a member can catch up on a missed session or preview what’s coming, and leadership can edit topics and verses directly from the WordPress dashboard without touching code.
Podcast & Worship Playlist Embeds A dedicated podcast page surfaces featured episodes with direct links out to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube, so members can keep listening on whatever platform they already use. On the homepage, a Spotify playlist embed is refreshed weekly to pair worship music with that week’s study theme — leadership swaps the playlist URL in the editor each session, no rebuild required.
Events & Announcements, via an Events Calendar Plugin Gatherings, kickoffs, and guest nights live on a dedicated Events & Announcements page, built on an events calendar plugin so leadership can post and manage upcoming dates in one place rather than announcing them verbally each week and hoping they stick. Individual events support RSVP links for signups.
Prayer Wall & Community Touchpoints A Prayer Wall gives members a standing place to submit and hold requests for one another between meetings, reinforcing the sense of community the group is built around. A weekly newsletter signup and blog round out the experience, giving leadership additional channels to reach members with devotionals and reminders.
Design & Tone The site was designed to feel like an extension of the in-person gathering rather than a generic church website — soft, feminine visuals, scripture-forward copy, and a “Root Down, Bloom Boldly” identity that carries through every page, from the homepage hero to the footer.
